May Stammtisch
Tuesday May 21st, 6- 7:30pm
In the Spotlight: ikono TV
USArtBerlin is proud to present the fourth installment of our Nomadic Stammtisch Series. Our May Stammtisch will feature a presentation by USArtBerlin collaborator ikono TV. Ikono’s curatorial and administrative team will present the concept and history of this television platform for contemporary art.
ikono is an intangible platform of display and broadcasting visual arts, following the vision that art needs to be seen, and everybody needs to see art. In cooperation with international artists, collections and archives as well as the most important museums of the world, a team of 30 curators, artists and filmmakers produces a monthly program of video clips about art of all periods, movements and disciplines throughout history. Without adding any sound or comments for a purely visual and emotional approach, the productions are made internationally accessible by being broadcasted via ikono’s two HDTV channels ikonoMENASA (broadcasted in Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) and ikonoTV (broadcasted in Germany and Italy) as well as online via the platform.

Please join us on Tuesday, May 21st at 6pm, at ikono’s headquarters:
Wattstraße 10
13355 Berlin-Wedding.
Ring the “ikono” bell, the event will be held on the 3rd floor.

USArtBerlin is proud to present the second event of our Nomadic Stammtisch Series, on 24th of March 2013, featuring Aleks Słota, an interdisciplinary artist working in performance, photography, sound, video and installation. His work reflects an interest in the absurd, the interaction of fantasy and reality, and the meaning of public space. Slota received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003, and has been involved in art education, parallel to his own work, for 10 years, primarily with young and emerging artists. Currently he works and lives in Berlin.
Please join us at 3pm for a late lunch* on Sunday afternoon at the Dong Xuan Markt on Herzbergerstraße 128, 10365 Berlin. The restaurant “Nha Hang Viet Nam” is located at the left side of the entrance to Halle 3. After lunch around 4pm we’ll cross the street to the HB55 studio on Herbergerstraße 55 for the premiere of a performance entitled “Mountain Building” which explores the artist’s uneasy fascination with heroic art, monolithic architecture and the sublime.
